Elder, Hon. Dr. Fred Okem, Chairman of Yala Local Government Council, has taken action to address the problem of illegal trailer parking along Abakaliki Road in Yahe.
He officially opened a new Trailer Park and launched a Task Force aimed at controlling the parking of heavy-duty vehicles in the area.
Accompanied by his Vice Chairman, Hon. Godwin Odama, Council Secretary Hon. Chief Stephen Ogbaji, Supervisor for Finance Mr. Eddy Achi, Supervisor for Works Hon. Chief Joseph Ijoko JP, and Revenue Officer Mr. Emmanuel Oko, Dr. Okem unveiled the Task Force, which will work to ensure that trucks park only in the designated area.
Dr. Okem explained that the initiative is expected to reduce frequent accidents on this busy route, improve road safety, and generate revenue for the local council.
He also called on the Road Safety Corps to support the Task Force in restoring order and ensuring safer roads for all users.
